Finding authoritative flower growing resources in the Canadian market can be a tough go, but every once in a while one of the premier growers in our country offers a peek into their experience and wisdom.  Connie Thompson has been growing Dahlias since 1989.  And has been trained as a judge by the American Dahlia Society, and although Connie no longer shows her Dahlias she is one of the most influential dahlia growers in Canada.  

This past summer Connie released her book, Connie’s Dahlias - A Beginner’s Guide.  A wealth of knowledge in an easy to follow 60 pages of well illustrated Dahlia growing. 

If you are a member of a Facebook site in Canada that involves Dahlias you are probably familiar with Connie, who is always willing to share her thoughts and experience to newbies and long time growers in search of an answer.  

If you are new to Dahlias or, like me, and always want to have a trusted companion at my fingertips that describes in easy detail all the steps you need to be successful from start to finish.  Connie succinctly walks you through everything from bed prep, buying the right tubers, and planting them.  Of course, for the advanced grower she even shows you how to take cuttings, and how to properly divide your tubers.
