24 Days of Giveaways - Day 18 Kristine Albrecht

Dahlia giveaway

This year at Stems Flower Farm we grew close to 20,000 dahlias, that’s right, just a little over one acre of the gorgeous blooms that really look impressive in late summer.  Over the last three years we have tried to add a hundred or so varieties per year to our field. We presently have around 600 varieties of dahlias.  And we aren’t done yet.

Keeping up with dahlia breeding and new varieties is a full time job. Some Dahlia Societies estimate there to be more than 3300 varieties in existence now and with a surging popularity many more get added each season.  If you’ve ever wondered where they come from, we have the perfect resource for you. When it comes to introducing new varieties, not many have the same pedigree as Kristine Albrecht, who is an influential dahlia breeder.  Kristine has introduced award-winning dahlia varieties that are a must-have for the show circuit and the floral trade.

Stems Dahlia Field

This book is one of the best on Dahlia breeding that we have found by one of the experts in the field, so, Day Seventeen of our Twenty-Four Days of Giveaways is Dahlia Breeding by Kristine Albrecht.  And to add some spice, we are adding a $50 gift voucher for the Stems Flower Farm Dahlia shop.

For a chance to win leave a comment below.  In your message share your favourite Dahlia variety, or what growing Dahlias mean to you,  anything really, as long as it's meant to pick people up.  EASY.  This giveaway is open to anyone with a Canadian shipping address.
