Continue ShoppingTo lighten the mood and freshen spirits as we move to 2021 we are doing 24 straight days of giveaways!! Each giveaway is open for 24 hours. One every day until December 24th.
We are kicking off with Amy Merrick.
Amy Merrick, author of ON FLOWERS considers herself an accidental florist. As she speaks about it in interviews for her book, it’s about not knowing where her path was leading and being spontaneous. Well who hasn’t felt that way this past year? It’s Amy’s chapter on Humble Pleasures that resonates with us during times like these, even as flower farmers, we have learned to see the beauty in humble flowers like four leaf clovers, daffodils and even dandelions. Let’s face it, in a world of global pandemic we all need to find joy in the simple things.
Her book is an inspiration for those seeking to find meaning in a life of flowers. Amazing photography and easy to identify with word crafting.
Amy Merrick’s book, ON FLOWERS, Lessons from an Accidental Florist is our first of 24 days of giveaways this month. Today we celebrate humble things and our love for them. One lucky winner will receive Amy’s book and packs of Amazing Grey Poppies, Double Click Cosmos, and much sought after Eucalyptus seed from Stems Flower Farm.

My joy has been the sunflowers we planted this year. We love sharing are garden with nature and the sunflowers have provided a treat for the bees, birds and chipmunks. We know of at least one little chipmunk who worked very hard and won’t be going hungry this winter.

This year has been a struggle as a healthcare provider, working through the pandemic has been a struggle physically and emotionally. Throughout the year as our flowers bloomed it brought me great joy to not only have the flowers in my own home but also to be able to share bouquets with our community. We would make up bouquets and gift them to nursing homes and other health care providers.
Our flowers this year have been a type of therapy, after a day of nurturing patients I get to come home and love my little blooms.

What has brought me joy… what keeps bringing me joy, is the pure and irreplaceable connection with my babies. My two kiddos. Even when it’s hard. Being with them, coming back to them again and again, reminding myself through the stressful ‘had too much’ times that these moments are precious. These people I love are precious. I’m so grateful for them, for Molly and Finn. And for how they are teaching me, day by day, who I want to be. Who I really am, and how to become that person.

I’ve been a veggie gardener for years and this year decided to switch most of my planting space over to flowers – what a great year to do it! my front yard garden gave the neighbors something to enjoy on their walks and gave vase after vase of cut flowers for me, my friends and neighbors. Having the beauty right outside my door, while working from home since March, was a sanity saver.
