Jour vingt-quatre.

I am sad that this has come to an end😔. I have read much of what everyone has written and it truly has been a beautiful and much needed distraction. During this time I’ve been helping my Dear Mother, a new widow, move out of her treasured home of forty years. It’s been a difficult, heart breaking process on so many levels. Crawling into bed at night, I looked forward to what you had to say and to everyone’s responses. But…sigh…all good things must come to and end. And with that, I thank you. This has been a gift. May you and your family find comfort in each other during this very strange time and hold tight to the love and gratitude I’m most certain you have for one other.
Merry Christmas🎄❤️🕯️❄️

A few years ago, almost every aspect of my world seemed to be crumbling around me. My mother was battling an incurable cancer, my dad needed major surgery, my brother’s marriage was falling apart, I was facing some personal health issues and realizing that I may never have a family, I was plagued by anxiety and depression and realizing that I couldn’t continue on in my career. There were so many things I couldn’t control, with the exception of my work, but I was deathly afraid of letting go. The following words were shared with me: “When you come to the end of all the light you know, and it’s time to step into the darkness of the unknown, faith is knowing that one of two things shall happen: Either you will be given something solid to stand on or you will be taught to fly.”
― Edward Teller
These words helped me to take a chance, and choose my happiness over my perceived obligations. I later found my way to flower farming, which I feel has saved my life. I encourage anyone who is struggling to tell a friend, talk to a health professional, ask for help and be open to breaking down the barriers that we ourselves construct…..you can’t imagine the happiness waiting for you on the other side.

Growing things should always bring you joy. Enjoy the beauty, the bounty, the chance to get back to nature even a little bit.
