Our Philosophy

Our Philosophy

Simply put, we think we should leave the world in a better place than we found it.

Same goes for the people we meet.  Our meeting should be an additive experience in every way possible.

If you really want to “know” us, here is what we think is important:

Grow. Nourish. Inspire.

It’s more than our mantra, or a line written at the top of the white board in our office. We truly believe these three elements are what we need to live by to make a difference in the world.

We will provide as much growing information as we can.  From seed packs to areas of the website, we will feature flower, vegetable and herb best practices for growing. We will also tackle relevant issues like pest control, soil management and climate information.

We will deliver this in a way that captivates and nourishes you as a grower. This should be fun and not a struggle to see how to do things that are good for your garden.

We will talk about what is in our garden and even other peoples gardens and share how easy it is for you to do the same.  This inspiration for growing can be contagious.

In 2005 when Heidi started making plans for what is now Stems Flower Farm, its genesis was as much to a lifestyle change as it was to a business plan.  Heidi’s dream was to embrace a simpler life.  One that was more natural, more self-sufficient, and in keeping with her family's traditions of growing food when you can, sewing instead of buying, and minimizing the electronic trappings of the current times.

Farmers today balance environmental, economic, and social considerations almost everyday. Our mission is to move forward respecting all three elements in every aspect of our business.  We hope you come along for the journey too.
